Promoting a Web Site
The main purpose in budget planning is to have a metric by which to measure the financial success of a website. Keeping accurate accounts of how much money is invested into a site gives managers the foundation for measuring the relative value of a site. All expenditures and benefits of a website should be carefully tracked. Some benefits may prove intangible such as “establishing corporate identity”, or “increasing the brand of the company”. Other figures such as sales or savings may be much more quantifiable. Metrics and analysis will be discussed further in the promotion phase of this paper, but should be planned for to achieve the most accurate, reliable results.
Planning the development and promotion of a website is crucial to long-term
success of a business’s website. As the old saying goes, “An ounce
of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” An organization should spend
as much time planning a website as they do developing it in order to run a successful
website. A plan for website success is just as important as a business plan
and will prove just as valuable when problems inevitably arise.
