Phase I: Website Planning

In order to obtain success, an organization must consider many things in the planning stages of the website creation process. Some of the issues that will be discussed within the scope of this phase of the paper will include the main types of sites, the purpose of the sites, the goals of the sites, and the strategies for achieving those goals. Beyond strategic planning for the site, there are issues such as content planning, information architecture, and budgetary planning. Clearly identifying the answers to each issue is very similar to writing a business plan. Creating a model for a successful website will parallel creating a business plan in many ways. Purpose, goals, and strategies are important considerations when undertaking the project of creating a website.

A website is used to aid an organization or individual. There are many types of websites available on the World Wide Web. The constantly increasing popularity of the web can be attributed to the need for information. Information is the most essential non-human factor to achieving business goals, and it is the key to building knowledge and success. On the Internet information is available on everything from art history to zone architecture and millions of topics in between. Information is what drives the growth of the Internet, and is a key commodity of this new era.
